Mitsy's Magnificent Makeover DVD Review & Giveaway Ends 10/15/12 at 7 PM EST

Mitsy's Magnificent Makeover a Buzzy Funny Productions release.  Eric and Heather Smith are a husband and wife production team.  They had a dream to create animated shows with positive stories that parents could feel good about showing their kids.  With desktop technology and they creative talent and tech savvy, their animated DVD Mitsy's Magnificent Makeover was born.  The DVD follows young Mitsy, who is on top of the world.  She is about to start a new school year and she is preparing for her upcoming birthday party that is going to be the social event of the year.  That is until Leelu Belle comes to town.  The DVD introduces character interaction and twists and turns.  Lessons are learned in friendship, tolderance and good vs evil.

Even though the Smiths created their 41 minute DVD using their home computers, the production is incerdibly professional.  "I was actually helping to develop a feature length animated film whent he recession hit, and the funding was cut," said Eric Smith.  "So I decided the time was right to invest in ourselves and build our own animation company in the model of Pixar Studios."  Heather Smith, a Theater and English major and former elementary school teacher, worked ont he script.  After months of polishing and revising it, they came up with a storyline that they both liked.  One that explores themes of dealing with bullies, obsession with popularity, and the value of true friendship.

This DVD features both widescreen and full screen versions, behind the scenes with the characters and Dr. Facade's Freaky Formula Game.

During the DVD creation, instead of first creating pencil and paper storyboards.  Eric went directly to the animatic stage (a rough computer animated storyline).  He also helped develop a new software "plug-in" that dramatically speeds up the animation process.  This new technology allows for the creation of twenty to twenty five seconds of animation a day compared to the industry average of just a few seconds per day.  Beyond the techinal aspects, Eric and Heather voiced the characters themselves, wrote two original songs and scored the music for the entire feature.  The majority of the voice work was done by Heather, while Eric, a long-time piano and guitar player, scored and played all the instruments.

Mitsy's Magnificent Makeover is just the first in what Eric and Heather Smith hope will be a long line of kid friendly, story-focused offerings from Buzzy Funny Productions.  "We want to offer something that parents can truly enjoy sharing with their kids - good stories that reinforce positive vaues, and that are presented in a way that's fun to watch."

We really enjoyed this DVD.  Knowing that it was created by a couple on a computer made it more fun to watch for me.  I love that they are creating stories with positive messages that are fun to watch.  I highly recommend this movie.  Our children love it and have watched it several times since we recieved it.
