Easy Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe

Easy Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe

Hi Everyone! I made a dish this weekend that was purely experimental and it turned out so good that I just had to share it with you. I get so tired of making the same old things over and over again and craved something completely different from the usual. I was shopping in Kroger the other night with my hubby and we were looking at their Private Selection brand of products that were on sale. They currently have a bonus sale where you can save $4.00 by purchasing 4 items. He was looking at a couple of the simmering sauces. I had that "look" on my face since I am the Queen of homemade. Is this man really looking at an Indian inspired sauce from a jar? He insisted we give it a try, so I reluctantly agreed. The price was really good so I...Read More

Zombie Oreo Cookie Eyeballs

Zombie Oreo Cookie Eyeballs

Let's talk zombies. Since The Walking Dead series took off almost four years ago the zombie has become the favorite monster of many. I may be the only human being out there left to say this but I have never actually watched an episode of the show. That doesn't mean I don't have a soft spot for the emancipated, decaying, brain-eating, grotesque community of zombies. No longer the bottom feeder of the monster world, zombies make Halloween much more exciting.

Before Amen Review

About the book:

We all pray . . . some.

We pray to stay sober, centered, or solvent.  When the lump is deemed malignant. When the money runs outbefore the month does.  When the marriage is falling apart. We pray.
But wouldn't we like to pray more?  Better?  Stronger?  With more fire, faith, and fervency?
Yet we have kids to feed, bills to pay, deadlines to meet.  The calendar pounces on our good intentions like a tiger on a rabbit.  And what about our checkered history with prayer?  Uncertain words.  Unmet expectations.  Unanswered requests.
We aren't the first to struggle with prayer.  The first followers of Jesus needed prayer guidance too. In fact, prayer is the only tutorial they ever requested.
And Jesus gave them a prayer.  Not a lecture on prayer.  Not the doctrine of prayer.  He gave them a quotable, repeatable, portable prayer.  Couldn't we use the same?
In Before Amen best-selling author Max Lucado joins readers on a journey to the very heart of biblical prayer, offering hope for doubts and confidence even for prayer wimps.  Distilling prayers in the Bible down to one pocket-sized prayer, Max reminds readers that prayer is not a privilege for the pious nor the art of a chosen few.  Prayer is simply a heartfelt conversation between God and his child. Let the conversation begin.

My Review - I too struggle with prayer.  I have always enjoyed the books by Max Lucado.  He is an excellent author.  This is not an exception.  This book is wonderful.  Prayer is a gift that we have and we can pray anytime we want.  When we are having trouble coming up with the right words to say, God knows our hearts.  He knows what we are trying to say.  Keep praying and keep talking to God on a daily basis.

Fun Halloween Treats Pumpkin Pretzels

Fun Halloween Treats Pumpkin Pretzels

September 23, 2014 By Maria Long1 Comment Sometimes I will see something while I am browsing the aisles and I will get a creative thought across my mind. While at Target and really having no reason to be in the Halloween Aisle and found a bag of pumpkin shaped pretzels. While they would be delicious on their own in a snack bag, I had to add chocolate to the equation. Chocolate and Halloween do go well together right? I also picked up a bag of orange chocolate discs, do you see where I am going with this yet? When I got home I added a few chocolate discs to a freezer bag and placed it in the microwave for 30 second intervals until they melt completely through. Placing the pumpkin pretzels on wax paper I then filled each one with...Read More

Joyful

About the book: A young Amish couple gets a second chance at love in New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray's final book in her Return to Sugarcreek series.
Randall Beiler is doing his best to put his family and the farm's needs first, even forsaking love.  But though he tries, Randall knows he needs help caring for his younger siblings and keeping the house together.
When his brother offers pretty Elizabeth Nolt a job taking care of the house and cooking for the family, Randall is furious---and guilty about the way he once broke Elizabeth's heart.  But when he learns that Elizabeth and her grandmother are struggling to make ends meet, he knows the offer, no matter how painful, is the right thing for everyone.
Elizabeth wants to refuse---to stay far away from the man who hurt her---but she needs the money.  Though she vows to protect her heart, spending time in the Beiler household makes Elizabeth realize that, while she's older and wiser, her love for Randall still burns strong.
Randal, too, seems to want something more.  But does he want Elizabeth because he truly loves her---or because he needs a housekeeper?  If Randall sincerely wants something more, he must find a way to show Elizabeth---or risk losing his chance at love forever.

Christmas at Rose Hill Farm

About the book:

Bess Riehl is preparing Rose Hill Farm for her Christmas wedding, but her groom isn't who she thought it would be.  Billy Lapp is far away from his Amish roots working as a rose rustler for Penn State and wants nothing to do with Stoney Ridge, his family, or Bess.  And that suits Bess just fine.  Why should she think twice about a man who left without a word, without any explanation?  It's time she moved on with her life, and that meant saying yes to Amos Lapp, Billy's cousin and best friend.  But as Bess and Amos's wedding day draws near, her emotions tangle into a tight knot.  She loves Amos.  Yet she can't forget Billy.

When a "lost" rose is discovered at Rose Hill Farm, Billy is sent to track down its origins.  Get in, identify the rose, and get out.  That's his plan.  The only catch is that he's having a hard time narrowing down the identity of the lost rose, and he can't get those tropical blue eyes of Bess Riehl out of his mind.

As the history of the lost rose is pieced together, it reminds Bess and Billy---and Amos, too---that Christmas truly is the season of miracles.

All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

About the book:
Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

At twenty-six years old, Kat is still living in the shadows of her family in Bayou Bend, Louisiana.  Still working shifts at her Aunt Maggie's bakery.  Still wondering what to do with her passion for baking and her business degree. And still single.

But when Lucas Brannen, Kat's best friend, signs her up for a reality TV bake-off on Cupcake Combat, everything Kat ever wanted is suddenly dangled in front of her: creative license as a baker, recognition as a visionary . . . and a job at a famous bakery in New York.

As the competition heats up, Lucas realizes he might have made a huge mistake.  As much as he wants the best for Kat, the only thing he wants for himself---her---is suddenly in danger of slipping away.

The bright lights of reality cooking wars and the chance at a successful career dazzle Kat's senses and Lucas is faced with a difficult choice: help his friend achieve her dreams . . . or sabotage her chances to keep her in Louisiana.

MOMFILES.com: Best Deviled Eggs Recipe

MOMFILES.com: Best Deviled Eggs Recipe

I have posted my deviled eggs on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter numerous times before. Several people have asked for my recipe so I thought I would share it. It is so easy! I start with my hard boiled eggs and separate my yolks from the whites. I smash them up and add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, sweet relish, freshly cracked black pepper and sriracha. After I mix it all up, I add a tiny bit of milk to make the filling creamier. Next, I add my filling into a sandwich bag and snip off one end to make a piping bag. This makes your deviled eggs look prettier instead of scooping the filling with a spoon. I top them off with thinly sliced scallions and a sprinkle of smoked paprika. I sometimes top them with mulit-colored slivers of bell...Read More

Blue Ribbon Baking From a Redneck Kitchen Book Review

National pie champion, mom, homemaker, and self-proclaimed redneck, Francine Bryson won the hearts of bakers everywhere when she appeared on CBS’s The American Baking Competitionand went on to become a finalist on the show.  Known for her down-home Southern charm and sass (and for successfully pairing chocolate and peanut butter with bacon), Francine now shares her sought-after recipes and tips in her very first baking book.

“Here are the recipes and tricks I was taught by my Great-Granny, Granny, Nana, and Mama—the women who schooled me on the ways a Southern woman keeps a kitchen—and that I learned from twenty-plus years of competing on the baking circuit.  Now you can bake up award-winning pies such as Upside-Down Apple Pie, fluffy Biscuits Like Nana Made, and irresistible treats like Soda Pop Cake and Classic Southern Lemon Bars—all so good they have made the rounds with the ladies at church, the bridge clubs, supper clubs, and mom groups for generations.”

Okay, I am from the south.  I also love to eat.  This book has all the foods that I grew up enjoying.  I am super excited to try every recipe in this book.  I have to space them out because they are not part of my healthy eating lifestyle, but they are great treats.  We are certainly going to use this for our family reunions and get togethers.
