Element: Targeted Toning Pilates for Beginners Review

I love Pilates.  I enjoy feeling relaxed and strong.  Pilates is the type of exercise that I would love to do each and every day.  I was so excited when I got a copy of Element: Targeted Toning Pilates for Beginners to review.  Element is the best selling mind/body fitness video brand.  They bring the country's top instructors and workouts to people all over the world.  In this new DVD, Elizabeth Ordway leads three powerful 20 minute programs and a bonus core strengthener too.  Ordway is one of the top five Pilates experts in Los Angeles (according to RateYourBurn.com).  Her method is progressive with a classical tone influenced by her studies with Pilates and alignment experts including Romana Kryzanwka, Lolita San Miguel and Eric Franklin.  It is designed to reach even the hardest to access muscles, the effectiveness comes from the movements that radiate from one's center or powerhouse.  With repeated use, the user will achieve that long, leave physique for which Pilates is known.  You will feel strong and graceful too.  The DVD is set in a beautiful outdoor setting and it feels almost spa like.  The DVD is available in stores now and on Amazon.com too for a suggested retail price of $14.98.

You could do all three workouts from start to finish or do one segment at a time.  Elizabeth Ordway shows you three 20 minute, no equipment needed routines.  The segments are:

Total Body Lengthen & Strengthen - This one begins with the use of the breath to connect to the core.  It tones and defines all of the major muscles in your body.

Long & Lean Waistline - This segment stretches and tones your core muscles to create firm, flat abs and a sculpted waistline.

Lower Body Lift & Sculpt - Fire up your entire lower half of the body with this innovative leg series that includes Ordway's favorite seat lifters.

The 10 minute core strengthener bonus workout includes some of Ordway's best moves to flatten your midsection and strengthen your lower abs.  She will work the obliques to get those parenthesis that define a slim waistline.

I have done each segment separately and the entire DVD all at once.  It can be tough at times and it is quite effective.  I really love this DVD and I highly recommend it to beginners and beyond.  Elizabeth Ordway is the founder of Movement Studio LA.  She is a certified Pilates instructor with over 10 years of experience.  She started doing Pilates herself in her early 20's to heal her own back problems from scoliosis.
