Werther’s Original Baking Bash

I was lucky enough to host a Werther's Original MommyParty.  As a host I received a box full of Werther's Original Baking Caramels and some other supplies to get the party started.  I decided that we would make the Caramel Mocha Hot Chocolate, Caramel Peanut Brittle, Caramel Pecan Brownies, and the Caramel Apple Tart at the party.  So I invited over some friend and we had a good time together.  We ate and drank and we were merry!

Caramel Mocha Hot Chocolate

Doesn't that look delicious.  Cozy up to this simple yet indulgent hot chocolate recipe, it is perfect for chilly days.

  • Time for cooking: 5 minutes
  • Number of portions: 6

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. instant coffee
  • 6 oz. chopped bittersweet chocolate, reserve 1 tbsp. for drink garnish
  • 10 pieces (3 oz.) Werther‘s Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped
  • ½ cup whipped cream

1. Heat milk, sugar and coffee in a medium saucepot over medium-high heat until boiling. Reduce heat to low and add caramels. Stir frequently until the caramels have completely melted. Pour into mugs or cups and top with whipped cream and chocolate.

Caramel Apple Tart
  • Time for preparation: 10 minutes
  • Time for cooking: 20 minutes
  • Number of portions: 6-8

  • 1 sheet frozen ready-to-bake puff pastry, defrosted
  • 3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ pkg (4.5 oz. or 14 pieces) Werther‘s Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Lay the puff pastry on a parchment paper lined sheet pan. If the pastry has creases in it, roll a rolling pin over it to flatten it out slightly. Cut a large disk from the pastry (it will be about 9 – 10 inch in diameter) using a dinner plate for a pattern. Prick the surface all over with a fork, well.
3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes till golden brown on top. Set aside.
4. Meanwhile, cut each apple into 8 wedges. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apples and cook, stirring

Caramel Peanut Brittle

  • Time for preparation: 20 minutes
  • Time for cooking: 5 minutes
  • Number of portions: 10, 1 oz. pieces

1. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
2. Melt Baking and Hard caramels with butter and water in a medium saucepan over low heat until smooth, stirring often. Add the peanuts and cook 2 minutes. Stir in the baking soda and vanilla. Immediately spread out thinly onto a cookie sheet to cool completely. Break into pieces to serve

Caramel Pecan Brownies

  • Time for preparation: 15 Minutes
  • Time for cooking: 25 Minutes
  • Number of portions: 24
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 13 x 9-inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. Prepare brownie mix according to instructions on box. Let cool 10 minutes.
2. Microwave caramels and milk in a microwave-safe bowl on HIGH for 2½ minutes or until melted, stirring after 1½ minutes. Stir in vanilla extract. Drizzle caramel mixture over baked brownies in zigzag pattern. Place pecans on top of brownies, pressing gently into caramel. Let cool and serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired
