Sans Sucre Review & Giveaway Ends 8/17/11 at 7 PM EST

Review:

I received four baking mixes to sample and review.  We love sweets but we do not need a lot of sugar in our diets so I couldn't wait to try these out.  Here's some information about the company:

Bernard Food Industries Introduces Sans Sucre Baking Mixes
New Naturally Sweetened, Sugar-Free and No Sugar Added Mixes

Evanston, Ill (July 25, 2011) - Foodservice industry specialists Bernard Food Industries, Inc. recently launched a new line of sugar-free and no sugar added baking mixes sweetened with all-natural Stevia.  Sans Sucre, meaning “sugar free” in French, is available online and will be available at retail stores beginning in the fourth quarter.

“Over the course of our 60+ year history, we have been dedicated to providing healthy dieting options. The Sans Sucre baking mix line is our first line of naturally sweetened products,” says Steven Bernard, chief executive officer of Bernard Food Industries.

By using Stevia, an all-natural sweetener, Sans Sucre is able to produce baking mixes that have great taste and are naturally sweetened without additional sugar. According to the Mintel Sugar-Free Foods Survey, 24 percent of Americans watch their sugar intake. As this increasing number of people is staying away from processed foods that contain high amounts of sugar, preservatives and artificial ingredients, Sans Sucre is a great option for healthy eaters, diabetics and dieters alike.

Along with being naturally sweetened, the Sans Sucre baking mixes are sugar-free or no sugar added, low fat, no cholesterol, lower in calories and lower in sodium. These nutritional facts appeal to the 90 percent of adults that consume low calorie or reduced fat foods on a regular basis, according to the Calorie Control Council.

The Sans Sucre baking mix line includes: Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Milk Chocolate Brownie, Classic Blondie Brownie and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. They are available for a suggested retail price of $3.99 - $4.49.

Note: Sans Sucre line of baking mixes is the first to use Stevia in place of sugar or artificial sweeteners.  Stevia is an all-natural sugar substitute that is sweet in taste and free of calories, carbohydrates and fat, making it a healthy alternative. However, there is a distinct difference in taste between Stevia and regular sugar. “Like soda and diet soda both Stevia and sugar have different flavor profiles.” says Steven Bernard, chief executive officer of Bernard Food Industries.

First we tried the Milk Chocolate Brownie Mix.  It was moist and fluffy.  It tasted much better than we were expecting since it has no added sugar.  These brownies are amazing.  I really enjoyed every bite and felt good about the fact that they were not too bad for us to eat.

Next we tried the Classic Blondie Brownie Mix.  I love Blondie's they are my favorite thing in the whole world.  I couldn't wait to taste these.  I was pleasantly surprised that I loved these as well.  When they were baking I couldn't wait for them to finish because they smelled so good.  I had one with a glass of milk, it was a wonderful treat.
We also received the Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake Mix and the Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix.  We have not tried these yet, but I know that they will be excellent because the two we tried were.  I plan on having the Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake this weekend for breakfast and the Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix sometime next week.

These mixes are easy to prepare, just follow the instructions written right on the box.  You really will not miss the added sugar.  It's actually nice to have a great tasting treat without the sugar.  I am really loving these baking mixes.

Betty Crocker 5-Minute Microwave Brownie Pan Review

Do you love brownies?  I do!  I love brownies but I hate heating up the house in the summer to bake them.  I just discovered the Betty Crocker Store sells a 5-Minute Microwave Brownie Pan

Now you can enjoy delicious brownies in five minutes! Use your favorite box mix or try the recipe that's included with the purchse of the pan and start from scratch. The Nordic Ware 5-minute Microwave Brownie Pan is freezer to microwave to table ready. It's oven safe to 400°. It's the perfect size pan to make brownies, cornbread or cake in your microwave. Yes, you really can bake in your microwave!

I'm going to have to get one of these pans.  My mom will want one too once she hears about it.  We live in Florida and it's too hot to heat up the oven every time we want fresh, hot brownies.  This is going to be a hit.  I'm so glad that I discovered this wonderful pan!
