Play-Doh Play-Dates Fun Activites

I just found this site Play-Doh Play-Dates.  You and your children will enjoy virtually endless hours of imaginative play with fun and engaging PLAY-DOH Play-Date ideas. Each theme includes step-by-step instructions to create PLAY-DOH Fresh Ideas, printable crafts, and healthy snacks to help you host the perfect PLAY-DOH Play-Date!

This afternoon we decided to get some play-doh and do some of the crafts and activities from the site.  The first craft we did was the pizza box.  You just click on crafts and then click the links to print them out and follow the instructions to create the item.  They are really easy to make.  They recommend printing on card stock so that's what we did.  Play-doh has always been a favorite for me every since I was a child.

After we made the pizza box, menu, and sign we began to use the play-doh to make food for our pizza shop.  The Play-Dates site shows you step by step how to make a calzone and gelatto.  Then we got creative and did some ideas of our own.  We made pizza, breadsticks, salad, and cheese sticks.  This was a lot of fun and we spent an afternoon enjoying the play-doh.

They also have several other fresh ideas.  They are divided into different levels.  They have beginner, intermediate, and advanced.  I think that we'll try the back-2-school fresh idea next time.  I am so glad that I found play-doh play-mates.

Some other ideas they have for play-dates are ice cream shoppe, breakfast diner, spring party, back 2 school and beach party.  Each of those has step by step instructions for a fun filled afternoon.  We decided that we will do the beach party ideas next time we have an afternoon free to play with the play-doh.

After we finished we used the clean up tips they have on the site.  Here are a few of their clean up tips.  They were very helpful and useful for us.  Here are the clean up tips from the site:

Pick up the Pieces Part 1

Playtime is done. Here are ways to make the cleaning up fun.

1. Remove small pieces of moist PLAY-DOH Compound from your work surface -- and even some carpets -- by gently pressing a larger piece of moist PLAY-DOH Compound against them and lifting them away.
2. Dry pieces of PLAY-DOH Compound can generally be picked off of hard surfaces. DO NOT USE SOAP AND WATER, as that will make them dissolve and become harder to remove.
Cleaning Carpets
3. If PLAY-DOH Compound gets into the carpet, let it dry. When it's dry, loosen the pieces with a stiff brush, then pick them up by hand or with a hand-held or regular vacuum. DO NOT WET THE PLAY-DOH COMPOUND. DO NOT USE HOT WATER OR CLEANING SOLUTIONS.
Keep a Lid on It
4. Store PLAY-DOH Compound in the can with the lid completely closed.
Take a Picture...It Lasts Longer
5. Your child creates a masterpiece you want to cherish, but PLAY-DOH Compound creations will eventually dry and crack if left out. Preserve your child's work of art by taking a photo of it. That way you can admire it always.
6. Turn cleaning up into a game.

Marley Coffee Stir It Up

I love coffee and I love Bob Marley.  I just discovered Marley Coffee.  I am so happy that I found them.  I just ordered the Buffalo Soldier Whole Bean Organic Coffee and I can't wait to get it and try it.  I think of myself as a coffee snob.  I am very picky when it comes to coffee and I like to know that it's organic.

Buffalo Soldier blends robust Ethiopian Yirgacheffe with the finest beans from Indonesia and Central America. Roasted sweet, this earthy blend is sultry, smoky and deliciously smooth. The dark chocolate and berry undertones leave a rich, lingering finish that will help get you through those "fighting for survival" days.

Doesn't that sound great?!  I am totally looking forward to this.  This is like so exciting to me.  I really love coffee and Marley coffee sounds like the coffee for me!  One love!

KRISTIN CHENOWETH SHARES SOME LESSONS LEARNED ON HER NEW CD - AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 13TH

RECORDED IN NASHVILLE
CHENOWETH EXPLORES HER SOUTHERN MUSIC ROOTS

Born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, actress/songstress Kristin Chenoweth goes back to her country music roots with her new album Some Lessons Learned, available on SONY MASTERWORKS on Tuesday, September 13.  She will perform songs from the new recording on The View, Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Piers Morgan Tonight and more.
Some Lessons Learned was produced in Nashville by the legendary Bob Ezrin (Peter Gabriel, KISS, Pink Floyd).  It features songs by elite pop and country songwriters including Diane Warren, Desmond Child, Tom Douglas, Hillary Scott, Jodi Marr, Victoria Shaw, Dolly Parton, Eric Bazilian, Gary Burr and Shane McAnnally. Chenoweth herself contributed two songs, "What Would Dolly Do?"-- written in honor of her hero Dolly Parton -- and "Mine To Love," about a woman who struggles with an emotionally unavailable man.
This is Chenoweth’s fourth album on Sony. "Look at my recording career and it's kind of funny. It's all so different!” says Chenoweth who counts Dolly Parton (whose “Change” Kristin covers on the album), Patsy Cline, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Linda Ronstadt among her major influences. “This album is more along the lines of what I grew up singing, like the music I sang in church in Oklahoma. When I was hired at nineteen to sing at Opryland in Nashville, that's what I wanted to do. I never anticipated my career going in all these great directions -- which I'm grateful for! I'm finally getting to do what I want."

Some Lessons Learned is the culmination of a natural progression for Chenoweth as a recording artist. She singles out the title track "Lessons Learned": "It's about what we learn and how we learn -- and what we do with it.”
Her debut single, “I Want Somebody (Bitch About)” is a tongue-in-cheek song about finding unconditional love and is available now. All of the songs on Chenoweth’s new album are very personal and explore her life experiences as a woman.
The music video for “I Want Somebody (Bitch About)” which takes place in a retro hair salon made its debut on Country Music Television (CMT) this summer. During that time, Chenoweth was very involved in Nashville’s annual Country Music Fest. She was a presenter on the 2011 CMT Music Awards and performed on the finale of CMT’s Next Superstar.
Kristin relied heavily on one of contemporary pop's most prolific songwriters, Diane Warren, who wrote a number of songs on the album. "I feel so lucky to be able to have worked with Diane.  Her songs really capture who I am.  She pushed me and gave me confidence to go for it!" says Chenoweth. Warren also hooked her up with Ezrin, "and it became a great partnership," she adds. "On paper you wouldn't think of having Pink Floyd's producer, but it really worked!"
Ezrin has certainly succeeded in bringing out Chenoweth's hopeful, humorous, and inspirational qualities. Additionally, Some Lessons Learned showcases the work of "some of the best songwriters and musicians in Nashville," notes Chenoweth. I'm so glad that as an artist, I'm in a position to work with such incredibly talented people," Chenoweth concludes. "I’ve always wanted to make this album, especially in Nashville, where the musicians are amazing and everyone is so wonderful to work with.  I can’t wait to go back!”
Chenoweth has had an extraordinarily diverse career. In November 2010, she was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for her achievements.  She won a Tony Award for her role as Sally Brown in the Broadway musical You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and is also celebrated for originating the role of Glinda in Wicked.  In 2010, she appeared as Fran Kubelik in Promises, Promises alongside Sean Hayes.

She won an Emmy Award for her performance as Olive Snook in the television dramedy Pushing Daisies. Chenoweth is best known on TV for playing Annabeth Schott in The West Wing, and most recently as April Rhodes in GLEE, a role for which she was Emmy-nominated last year and this year.  In that role, she was able to use her multi-faceted voice on covers like “Last Name” (Carrie Underwood) and “Alone” (Heart).  This season she reprised her role singing “Dreams” (Fleetwood Mac).  She also had her own TV series, Kristin. Her film credits include Bewitched, The Pink Panther, Running With Scissors, Stranger Than Fiction, Four Christmases and RV.
Her debut album Let Yourself Go (2001) centered on show and movie musical classics including the title track, from the 1936 Fred Astaire film Follow the Fleet. It was followed in 2005 by As I Am, an album of Christian music, and in 2008, a holiday album A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas.
Chenoweth documented her life in her 2009 memoir A Little Bit Wicked: Life, Love, And Faith In Stages.
Next, Chenoweth will star as Carlene Cockburn in the new ABC drama series, Good Christian Belles, alongside Leslie Bibb, David James Elliott, and Annie Potts.

California Olive Ranch Review & Giveaway Ends 10/01/11 at 7 PM EST

California Olive Ranch sent me a bottle of Everyday California Extra Virgin Olive Oil to sample and review.  I used the olive oil on my salads and to cook a stir fry.  It smells wonderful.  It cooks great and it's awesome on my salads.  I am very impressed with this olive oil.
Floral, buttery and fruity aroma. Smooth flavor with hints of green apple. Versatile - great for baking, sauteing, and everyday uses.

Our Story

A Difference You Can Taste

Fresh, great tasting olive oil inspires everything we do at California Olive Ranch.

We believe in making great olive oil and healthy food available to everyone. We’re so passionate about the quality of our olive oil, that we grow and harvest our olives with the same care that California wine makers apply to their grapes. We press our olives within hours of picking to seal in the fresh taste.
We think you should know exactly where the olives in your olive oil come from. Our olive oil is traceable back to the California ranches where our olives are grown. We also believe that you should know how fresh your olive oil is, that’s why every bottle of our olive oil displays the harvest date.
Our olive oil is certified pesticide-free at harvest. We invite you to taste the difference!

Sustainable Olive Ranches

You should know where your food comes from, who grows it and how it’s grown.

We are proud to be part of a California ranch legacy that dates back 300 years, to when the Spanish brought the first olive trees to California. By combining that time honored agrarian wisdom with the new science of sustainable growing, our ranches are able to produce America’s best tasting olive oil.
We believe that taking care of the earth’s resources is the right thing to do…and it makes better olive oil. Our ranches use resources wisely and extend the water we use through recycling and drip irrigation. We mulch tree trimmings back into the field and allow other farms to use our leftover olive pits.
California olive oil requires less energy for transportation than European imports.

A New American Classic

Our iconic green bottle and label honor our America/California heritage.

We specified green glass to protect the olive oil from light and designed olive shaped finger grips to allow for a perfect pour. Our 100% recyclable bottle has a smooth finish; clean modern lines and simple radius curves which make it a joy to hold.
Our label is inspired by our California ranchers, the beauty of our orchards and the romance of the American west. Our illustration honors the heritage of California fruit crate artwork and portrays our rancher in a heroic pose holding our pristine olive up for all to see.
