If you are like me, then you haven't ever heard of SkinFare. I found SkinFare on twitter and I was immediately intrigued. I went to their website to read up on them and found out what they are about. Organic Skincare sticks containing only USDA certified organic ingredients. They are to be applied everywhere you have skin with convenient application for travel anywhere in a recycled package that is biodegradable and handmade in Asheville, North Carolina.
About SkinFare:
According to the Environmental Working Group the average American uses 10 personal care products each day exposing themselves to 126 different cosmetic chemicals. Without a degree in chemistry, even scrutinizing consumers are perplexed trying to decipher the ingredients on their favorite soaps, shampoos or lotions. Data is mounting regarding potential health risks associated with toxic cosmetic chemicals.
Unbelievably, manufacturers may use any ingredient or raw material, except for certain color additives and a few prohibited substances, to market a cosmetic product without government review or approval. Essentially, manufacturers regulate themselves through an industry appointed panel, the Cosmetics Ingredient Review (CIR). Additionally, the FDA does not define or regulate the use of the term “organic” as it applies to cosmetics, body care, or personal care products. Only the USDA can guarantee organic standards but they have no authority over the production and labeling of cosmetics, body care products, and personal care products that are not made up of agricultural ingredients.
WE BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE.SAFETY:
All product ingredients must be labeled accurately, have established safety data, and have no risk of being exposed to contamination via manufacturing or packaging.
IMPACT:
All materials must be sustainable, biodegradable, reusable, or recyclable and have energy efficient processing techniques available throughout entire lifecycle.
SOURCING:
All ingredient suppliers must present organic certification issued by a USDA accredited certifier showing compliance with the National Organic Program and exhibit consistent pursuit of social equity.
I received all of their products to review. The first one I tried is the Verdant Remedy. Tone, Restore, Brighten. Basil - Basil is a powerhouse: reducing stress and boosting mental strength. Amen. Also great for insect bites...particularly mosquitoes. Galbanum - Reduces scars (yes, stretch marks and blemishes too) and resurrects mature skin. Known for arthritis relief. The Apothecary Prime. Heal, Sooth, Clarify. Sage - encourages the lymphatic system which unleashes total body healing. Poewrful preventative against sagging skin. Good grief! Chamonmile - Reduces inflammation. Clams damaged, itchy, inflamed skin. A treat for sensitive or blemished skin. Thyme - Mellow antiseptic that is excellent for acne and dermatitis. Extraordinary healer and scar reducer, surgical marks included.
The Heirloom Elixir Invigorate, Tighten, Refresh. Ginger - Triple Threat: anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory. Stimulating and Detoxifying properties are even effective for cellulite. Carrot: High in carotene and vitamin A, keeps skin healthy, toned and wrinkle free. Greatly reduces pore size. Sweet! Spearmint - calms itchy, irritated skin. Eases headache and soothes stomachache. Antiseptic wound care wonder.Topical Nourishment Defend, Balance, Repair. Palmarosa: Skin hydration and oil production, leaving skin supple and elastic. Excellent bug repellant properties. Rosemary: Refreshing, invigorating: gets blood flowing to your skin cells in order to deliver nutrients and remove waste. Helichrysum: Epic healing power. Thunder Cake Energize, Relieve, Protect. Nutmeg: Promotes circulation and reduces inflammation. Protects skin from environmental damage, offering anti-aging properties galore.
