30 Minutes to Fitness Trim Down by Kelly Coffey-Meyer Review

Total Fitness DVD's sent me the 30 Minutes to Fitness Trim Down by Kelly Coffey-Meyer DVD to review.  This is the first time that I have worked out with Kelly Coffey-Meyer.  My friends have always raved about her style and technique.  I couldn't wait to pop in this DVD and get started.  I did the first workout last Monday and the second workout on Wednesday.  The 30 minute workout has it all.  Kelly rotates between strength training and boxing drills.  Her move are easy to follow and designed to thoroughly sculpt the entire body and improve your overall fitness level.  She uses an extra emphasis on your lower body for the majority of the moves which keeps your heart rate elevated and the fat burning which leads to a leaner physique.  The boxing drills get your heart rate up and strengthen your entire upper body at the same time.  Kelly does easy to follow punching combinations that will increase the calorie burning effect using fast paced jabs, hooks, crosses and upper cuts.  This will result in a leaner and stronger upper body.  I can feel the definition in my arms, shoulders and waistline improving each time I do one of these workouts.

I love that the DVD has two complete 30 minute workouts.  I did the first workout again this morning and I plan on doing the second workout on Wednesday this week.  Kelly is one of my favorite new instructors.  She really knows how to get my heart rate up and my muscles sore.  I sweat profusely each time I do one of these workouts.  The second workout is a little more difficult than the first.  I really believe these workouts will help the user trim down.  I feel more definition in my arms already and am looking forward to getting trimmed down and in super shape thanks to these two super fun workouts.

Based on the books:     “Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website” by Daniel Domscheit-Berg, and the Guardian book “WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy” by David Leigh and Luke Harding

Triggering our age of high-stakes secrecy, explosive news leaks and the trafficking of classified information, WikiLeaks forever changed the game. Now, in a dramatic thriller based on real events, “The Fifth Estate” reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century’s most fiercely debated organization. The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful. On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistleblowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society—and what are the costs of exposing them?"

Werther’s Original Baking Bash

I was lucky enough to host a Werther's Original MommyParty.  As a host I received a box full of Werther's Original Baking Caramels and some other supplies to get the party started.  I decided that we would make the Caramel Mocha Hot Chocolate, Caramel Peanut Brittle, Caramel Pecan Brownies, and the Caramel Apple Tart at the party.  So I invited over some friend and we had a good time together.  We ate and drank and we were merry!

10 Minute Solution: High Intensity Interval Training DVD Review

New research shows short, all-out effort yields the best fitness results.  This new 10 Minute Solution: High Intensity Interval Training DVD shows you how.

Auburn University Montgomery presented new research on May 31, 2013 at the ACSM annual meeting in Indianopolis confirming what fans of the 10 Minute Solution workout DVD series have already known.  Short workouts do work!  Michele Olson, PhD, FACSM, CSCS found that short, intense bursts of exercise done with 20 seconds of all out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated in a four minute cycle doubled her subject metabolic rate (the amount of calories burned) for 30 minutes after the workouts.  Her subjects burned more calories after a four minute Tabata style workout than they would have burned doing a 20 minute brisk walk.  This new 10 Minute Solution: High Intensity Interval Training HIIT DVD keeps to that 20/10 format for workouts that keep working long after the workout ends.  It offers five mini-workouts to challenge every part of your body while keeping that heart rate high to burn calories and build stamina.  As will all the DVDs in this series, users are able to design their workout of the day in 10-minute segments.  You can select just one of the segments up to all of them.  This DVD is in stores now and available at amazon.com for a suggested retail price of $14.98.

The key to success with HIIT workouts is that you have to work hard but not for long.  Fitness expert and competitor Lisa Kinder's five workouts will have you digging deep but the rewards will be well worth it.  The good news is after every 20 seconds of effort there is a little break.  Before you know it, you're good to go on with your busy day knowing you have done something great for yourself.  No equipment is needed for this program that you can do anywhere.

The workout options are:

HIIT 101 - An endurance boosting, calorie blasting meltdown.  Moves range from the familiar (lateral jumps) to Kinder's own creations such as Surrenders with Knee Tucks.  I love this segment.  It's so much fun and a challenge too!

Ab HIIT - Strengthen and trim the core from every direction while keeping the heart pumping hard.  I am always a fan of ab work.  My core is strong but this is a tough workout for me.

Upper Body HIIT - Who needs free weights when there are moves like Tipping Frogs?  My upper body always needs to be worked out harder.  These moves are tough and so effective.

HIIT Explosion - These fierce, plyometric moves, like the one-legged burpee will help you shed those pounds in a hurry.  Okay I can't be the only one who is unable to do the one-legged burpee but I will keep working at it and I will get there one day soon!

Rock Bottom HIIT - This segment includes Kinder's favorite move - Donkey Kicks with Hot Feet.  This segment is hard and fun.  I love it and my bottom will thank me for it later!

Lisa Kinder is a Los Angeles based personal trainer and fitness competitor certified by AFAA and NCSF.  She was named Chino's Trainer of the Year in 2008.  Kinder has a BA Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Body Mechanics; Option in Physical Education and is a licenses massage therapist.  She has also taught elementary school physical education.
