MEXICAN HOT CHOCOLATE CHEX PARTY MIX

Chex brand cereals are so versatile. In addition to a tasty breakfast treat, you can use it to create a lot of other tasty treats. Earlier this year I used Rice Chex to make gluten-free Chicken Parmesan. When I was sent boxes of Cinnamon, Vanilla, and Chocolate Chex cereal, I set forth to make the recipe for Mexican Hot Chocolate Chex Party Mix. It’s pretty simple to make and hard to resist once you start eating it.

Pound Foolish

About the book: Pound Foolish | Book Four in the Windy City Neighbors series (Castle Rock Creative, October 2014)

Greg Singer coordinates consumer sports shows for powerboats, four wheelers, snowmobiles, and jet skis---macho toys for outdoor men like himself. But the job puts tremendous stress on his marriage with Nicole, who for the first time notices the handsome lawyer at the end of the block. "Greener pastures?" When the recession hits Greg's industry, he thinks the crisis is merely an opportunity for God to bless him with unmatched prosperity, a promise he hears preached each Sunday, and he steps out in bold faith . . . But is he being "pound foolish"?

The fourth in the Windy City Neighbors series, Pound Foolish explores the economic upheaval and uncertainties challenging every family. Intersecting with Penny Wise (book three), the Jacksons employ the innovating storytelling technique of "parallel novels." Though each book follows its own drama and story arc, the characters' lives become intertwined and affect one another. Pound Foolish returns us to Beecham Street---a typical American neighborhood . . . where a growing friendship brings new meaning to prosperity.

My Review - This is a good book.  I had a hard time getting into it but I know that Dave and Neta are good story tellers so I was patient and I did end up liking the book.  I found myself hoping for the characters and feeling for their mistakes.

I Have Seen God Book Review

About the book: I Have Seen God: The Miraculous Story of the Diospi Suyana Hospital in Peru (Monarch Books, October 2014)

The miraculous founding of a top class hospital for some of the world's poorest people

Klaus-Dieter and Martina John---both brilliant, talented, and highly qualified doctors---turned their backs on lucrative careers to follow their dream to open a first-rate medical facility for the Indians of the Peruvian Andes, some of the world's poorest people.  The Peruvian Andes natives suffer appallingly from the diseases of poverty and, although they make up approximately 40 percent of Peru's population, are ignored by the authorities.

Having studied at the universities of Harvard, Yale, and Johannesburg during his training as a surgeon, Dr. Klaus-Dieter John together with his wife, Dr. Martina John, a pediatrician, developed a concept for a modern hospital in the Peruvian Highlands.

Turning down other offers, including a professorship, they set themselves the task of raising the millions of dollars needed.  God opened the hearts and consciences of individuals and companies to create not just a health center, but a fully equipped hospital.  Their story and vision has captured attention around the world and today they have the backing of 180 corporations and 50,000 private supporters.

The hospital's name, Diospi Suyana, means "we trust in God" in Quechua, the native language of the people it serves.  It is a testament to their experience that with God the impossible can happen.  The incredible conviction and profound faith of the Johns will refresh your heart and stir your spirit.

Honestly, I don't have a ton of Pinterest boards (yet) but my "Let's Get Cookin" board is one of my most frequented boards. I love all the recipes and food inspiration on Pinterest. I recently needed to make cherry cupcakes for a church fellowship and went on Pinterest to get ideas. I found one called "Almond Maraschino Cherry Cupcakes" and was instantly sold. It didn't sound too difficult and they looked really cute too. Rather than go into great detail about how I did it, step-by-step pictures, etc. I will just share with you the link I found on Pinterest. Trust me, her pictures are way cuter than mine anyway. Mexican Hot Chocolate Chex Party Mix

Mexican Hot Chocolate Chex Party Mix

Fun, quick recipes are the best during a busy Holiday season. The other night our family made this Mexican Hot Chocolate Chex Party Mix and it was a hit! It was easy to make and certainly easy to eat! The only hard thing about is was not eating it all by myself. It has a great crunch and sweetness to it, with a good hint of cinnamon. Perfect to serve at a party. We also put bags of it in the kids school lunches for a fun dessert. I followed the recipe below. I did sneak in a couple of extra cups of cereal, just to give us a little more to eat and it turned out fine!

NOAH- A Wordless Picture Book Review

About the book:
-Hardcover
-64 pages (wordless)

This book is beautiful.  We really enjoyed every page of it.  I am so happy that I was chosen to review it.

A hundred years before the Great Flood, a man named Noah came home talking crazy. God wanted him to build the biggest ship the world had ever seen. The future of humanity depended on it. How would his wife respond? What would the neighbors think? Was it even feasible?

This lavish reimagining of one of the greatest stories of all time will fascinate children and adults alike. Nuanced and playful, yet meticulous in following the biblical narrative, Mark Ludy’s world-class art digs deeper than the Sunday-school tale of cuddly animals, exploring noah’s relationship with his family, the natural world, God - and a formidable engineering challenge.

Immerse yourself in this stunning wordless epic. Whatever your age, you’ll never read this story in the same way again.

Bonus: Find Squeakers the mouse on every page!

About the author:
Mark Ludy has written or illustrated eight children’s books including The FarmerThe Flower Man, The GrumpWhen I Was  a Boy I DreamedWhen I Was a Girl I Dreamed, and Jujo the Youngest Tribesman. When he’s not immersed in his sketchbooks, you’ll find him in schools promoting art and literacy. He lives in Colorado with his wife, daughter, and two sons.

Chipotle and Cranberry Sauce - Que Rica Vida

The turkey is definitely the star during Thanksgiving dinner, especially when served with different side dishes. You might not believe it, but the preparation of the turkey is the least stressful part of the whole dinner. Most people say that the appetizers and the sauce for the turkey are the most difficult pieces to plan. It doesn’t have to be that way if we use the products that help us simplify our time in the kitchen. However, there’s nothing better than homemade dishes for Thanksgiving; they do always taste just a little bit better. Today I want to share a recipe with you that will give your Thanksgiving dinner a Latin touch everyone will enjoy.Ingredients1 can evaporated milk1 1/2 cups water1/2 can of chipotle sauce1 cube of...Read More

When Taryn's grandmother Jemma, the only other person who ever held her close, has a heart attack that reveals a fatal medical condition, Taryn is corralled into helping Grandma work on a final project---an Irish chain quilt that tells the story of her history and the love Jemma knows is out there for Taryn.  As the pieces of the quilt come together, Taryn begins to see her value.  she learn to believe that God will never leave her behind even though others have?

The Promise by Beth Wiseman

The Promise
Mallory’s search for happiness leads her to a faraway place.  There she finds heartache, betrayal—and danger.

Mallory Hammond is determined that no one will stand in the way of her goal—to save a life.  She had that chance years ago, and she failed to take it, leaving her adrift and in search of the real meaning of her life.  Finally, she meets a man online from a volatile corner of the world who offers her the chance to find that purpose.  But she will have to leave everyone she loves behind in order to take it.

Tate Webber has loved Mallory for many years.  He understands that Mallory will never be happy with him until her deepest heart’s desire is satisfied.  When Mallory decides to travel across the world to fulfill her dreams, Tate begs her not to go but tries to give her the space she needs.  Mallory embarks on her dangerous journey only to discover how swiftly and easily promises can be broken.  And Mallory can only pray that she will make it out alive.

Inspired by actual events, The Promise is a riveting love story that asks the question: how far will we go for love?

Beth Wiseman is the best-selling author of the Daughters of the Promise series and the Land of Canaan series.  Having sold over 1.3 million books, her novels have held spots on multiple Bestseller lists.  She was the recipient of the prestigious Carol Award in 2011 and 2013.  In 2013 she took home the coveted Holt Medallion.  Her first book in the Land of Canaan series--"Seek Me With All Your Heart"--was selected as the 2011 Women of Faith Book of the Year.  Beth lives in Texas with her family.

My Review - The Promise drew me in and kept me turning the page until I was done reading it.  I really couldn't put it down.  This is a terrific story.  I am glad I read it.

In a daring new novel, Beth Wiseman jumps way outside the box. The Promise will take readers far away from Amish country and small Texas towns to a dangerous place on the other side of the world. Inspired by actual events, this is the book Beth has been working toward for a long time.

In our world a woman’s acceptance so often seems contingent on her looks, behavior, or talents. This can lead to fearing loss of acceptance, trying to outperform one another, and a warped view God as a ruthless, judgmental, stern entity just waiting for us to crash and burn. Debora M. Coty's new book, Too Loved to Be Lost: Discovering God’s Intentional, Unconditional, Without-Limits Loveoffers women simple, practical steps for finding healing, security, and revitalization of spirit, body, and faith.
